Afshaan Jiwaji

As a business lawyer, Afshaan routinely advises clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including corporate organization and governance, corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and other day–to–day transactional matters, such as negotiating and drafting various commercial agreements. 

Afshaan also has experience in technology and intellectual property matters, including  all aspects of branding strategy, trademark protection and commercialization, and licensing and exploitation of all forms of intellectual property. As a registered trademark agent, she can assist with all aspects of a trademark’s lifecycle, from pre-application trademark clearance searches and registrability opinions, to trademark filings, registrations, renewals and Nice Classifications. In her intellectual property litigation and enforcement practice, she is a strong advocate for her clients’ contentious intellectual property proceedings.

Prior to establishing Jiwaji Law, Afshaan practised as a tax lawyer at a leading multinational firm and as a business and technology lawyer at a national firm. With this experience, she has a deep understanding of complex corporate structures, tax considerations, and the nuances of intellectual property law, which allows her to provide strategic legal counsel to businesses navigating high-stakes transactions and restructuring processes. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of advising a broad range of businesses, from startups to established corporations. 

Outside the office, Afshaan is deeply committed to continuing her legal education and staying abreast of industry developments to ensure that her clients receive the most effective and current legal counsel.
