Founded by sisters Afshaan Jiwaji and Aneka Jiwaji, Jiwaji Law brings together complementary expertise across advisory and advocacy work. Afshaan and Aneka reflect both sides of the profession while continuing the legacy of excellence established decades ago by their father’s original practice, Jiwaji Law, which operated in Alberta since 1994. Jiwaji Law is shaped by values rooted in family and carried forward through generations. The sisters grew up watching their father practise law under the original Jiwaji Law banner in Edmonton, where he served clients with integrity, compassion, and unwavering professionalism. His example created the foundation upon which the modern firm now stands, reimagined for today’s evolving business and regulatory landscape.
As the lead of the firm’s solicitor practice, Afshaan guides the transactional and advisory side of the practice, focusing on corporate transactions, complex commercial arrangements, technology and intellectual property matters, and tax-informed structuring. Her background across global, national, and boutique environments allows her to guide clients through sophisticated commercial and growth-oriented work with clarity and pragmatism.
As the lead of the firm’s barrister practice, Aneka brings a breadth of experience gained at respected regional, national, and international law firms, as litigation counsel for the BC Securities Commission, and most recently as a litigator at one of British Columbia’s foremost commercial litigation boutiques. She represents clients in commercial disputes, appeals, judicial reviews, intellectual property litigation, tax disputes, and regulatory proceedings. Her approach emphasises disciplined advocacy, strategic foresight, and a deep understanding of risk.
